Can You Help?
The following were posted in the WWII In The Pacific guestbook - maybe you can help?
- My Dad was in 2nd battalion, 4th Marines, 6th Marine division in
the field in WWII. He was in Okinawa and Japan. Could someone
possibly tell me what his job, may have been. I have been trying to
research his time in the Marines. He then changed in Dec 1945 to
3rd battallion, 4th Marines, Fleet Marine force. Also he was to
receive the Presidential unit citation and the Navy Unit
commendation. Can anybody tell me what the Navy unit
commendation was for. Thanks so much

- My late father, Theodore Passalis(1911-1998) was an Army Staff
Sgt.in the 7th Division,(Hourglass Div.) 17th Infantry, Company
"C". Fought in the Aleutians, Marshalls, Phillipines, and Okinawa,
1941-1945. I'm a journalist---collecting stories about "Daddy's
War". Would like to hear from those who served with my father
(in same campaigns). Thanks!

- I am doing a documentary video on my uncle, SSGT Paul M. Heyne,
US Army 77th Division, Company F, who was killed in action on
May 13, 1945 in the Battle for Chocolate Drop Hill in the Ryukyu
Islands, Okinawa. I have letters he wrote home to his mother from
basic training in 1942 to a few days before his death. I have
found one comrade of his; are there any others out there who
would be willing to contribute their stories to our effort? Our
project is not for profit, an endeavor only to tell the story of a
true hometown (Staten Island, NY) hero. Thank you.

even better, if you knew my Grandfather, please contact me at the
e-mail provided. Any and all information will be welcomed and
greatly appreciated!

- My brother was in the navy during WWII, I know he served in the
pacific theater. He was part of a group of sailors that helped
establish communications in the pacific islands during the time of
the battle of Okinawa. Would you possibly know of resources that
might helpme research this. I don't know what fleet or type of
ship he was on. I do know he was a radioman. Thank you.

- This is a wonderful site and was just browsing to see more info on
where my father-in-law, Ernest Charles McCall who just passed
away on January 3,2003, served. He never talked much about the
War. He was a captain in the Marine Corps and received his
commission in Quantico, VA. He was in Co.B, 1st Bn., 7th Marines.
He was at New Britain, Guadacanal, Pelilu and Okinawa. He was
wounded on Pelilu which kept him out of the battle of Iwo. On
Okinawa he was awarded a Bronze Star. He was known as "Tex"
because he was from Texas. If anyone thinks they may have know
him please contact me.

- My Dad was with the 3rd. Battalion, 15th Regiment, 6th Mar. Div.
Ever since I was a child I loved the Marine Corp. because my Dad
and Uncle both were in it. Well Dad faught on Okinawa and like so
many others he never discussed what happened there. He did tell
me he had to go into the caves and get the japs out and he
remembers a banzai charge on his camp were a fellow marine was
killed by a hand grenade thrown by a jap. I want to know what
went on with him there, what he did, were he was, etc. If anyone
knows anything about the 3rd Bn., 15th Regt. 6th Mar. Div. I would
appreciate anything you would give me.
